Pilot study about the learning processes used for musical skills

Photo: Istock

Fredrik Ulléns group is now launching a major research study, with the purpose of increasing our knowledge of how the brain learns new skills. In order to perform this analys we will monitor research subjects who will be learning the first steps towards learning to play the piano. We are now looking for research subjects for this pilot study, ideally people who don’t have any experience of playing a musical instrument. In order to participate it is important that you live in the Stockholm area, are right-handed and haven’t played the piano or organ before. If you participate you can loan a keyboard for a six week period and learn the first basic steps towards playing the piano. This involves an online course with 4 short (20-30 minutes) lessons per week. If you think this sounds interesting, please register for the pilot study here, please note the study is in Swedish:
